Weekly Email Announcement Policy

This policy covers the contents and distribution of the weekly JAHE email announcements that are sent to all members of JAHE.

Purpose

The weekly emails provide timely, helpful information to our membership. The primary focus is on events and educational services that will help
the homeschooling experience of our members. To submit items for inclusion in the email announcements, please contact the news director.

Contents and Format

The contents within the email announcements are ordered and presenting in the following categories:

• JAHE Sponsored Events & Services - These are events sponsored by or services provided by JAHE, one of its subgroups (Sports Teams, PIONEERS Coop, Young Explorers Coop, Challenge Classical Cottage School or Band).
• Important Membership Announcements - Other items that may be published in this section of the email announcements are:
  • Benevolence Information – Announcements or prayer requests regarding personal situations which we deem valuable to our membership,
  • Awards and Congratulations – Announcements of awards received by members pertaining to homeschooling.
  • Legal Information – Informational announcements about laws being considered by State or Federal legislators, action requests or other
    legal information of value to our members.
  • Voting Information – JAHE may provide information about voting locations, candidates and ballot items to our membership. This information will
    conform to applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Other Information – Other informational announcements deemed by JAHE to be of value to our members not specifically listed above.
  • Collaborating Home school Organization Events & Services – These are events sponsored by or educational services provided by a collaborating home school support group (such as HSLDA, INCH, LIFE, etc.).
• Non-JAHE Events - These are events provided by organizations or individuals outside of JAHE. While the Jackson Area Home Educators believes that the activities and events listed here may be of value to home educators, the publishing of such information does not necessarily constitute an endorsement by J.A.H.E., or its Board of Directors. It is the responsibility of individual parents to determine the appropriateness of each activity and event for their family. JAHE reserves the right to publish or not publish (exclude) any events in this category at its sole discretion, for any reason.
• Non-JAHE Services - These are educational services provided by organizations or individuals outside of JAHE. Services announced here will be primarily of educational value to our members, not primarily commercial advertisements. While the Jackson Area Home Educators believes that the services listed here may be of value to home educators, the publishing of such information does not necessarily constitute an endorsement by J.A.H.E., or its Board of
  Directors. It is the responsibility of individual parents to determine the appropriateness of the services for their family. JAHE reserves the right to publish or not publish (exclude) any services in this category at its sole discretion, for any reason.

Some contents will not be published in the weekly email announcements. JAHE is a nonprofit educational 501(c)3 organization. JAHE will not publish the following type of content in our announcements:

• Commercial Events or Advertising - We do not want our emails to become commercial vehicles or considered spam by our members. JAHE provides space in our website for commercial advertising. Contact the webmaster to inquire about advertising opportunities.
• Items for Sale or Give Away - JAHE provides space in our website for sale and give away items from JAHE Members. Items that can be posted in this area are: Books, Household items, Sporting goods, Real Estate, Cars, Motor Homes, Motor Vehicles, Boats and Recreational Vehicles. JAHE reserves the right to post or not post any items at its sole discretion. Send information about items for sale or give away to the webmaster for posting.
• Political Endorsements or Campaign Events for Specific Candidates - JAHE is prohibited from some political activity by the IRS and US law. JAHE will not advertise or announce single candidate political events which may be construed as an endorsement of a specific candidate. In addition, JAHE will not endorse a specific candidate.
  

Special Announcements

The normal email announcements are sent out weekly. However, at times special announcements may be emailed separately to provide more timely information or emphasis to our members. The same content restrictions specified above also apply to these special announcements.
