Pioneers - Young Pioneers Young PIONEERS is a staff support program designed to meet the needs of the younger children of staff members and current PIONEERS member families. It includes the nursery and preschool programs as well as grades Kindergarten -- 4/5. There is no charge for children in the nursery. However, there is a $25 per family per semester lab/supplies fee (first semester payment due at registration) for children in the preschool program, as well as a tuition rate $2.00 for the AM Program and/or $2.00 for the PM Program ($4.00/day). No tutor discount is available for the preschool program. The K-4/5 program is an enrichment program which seeks to offer opportunities for younger children to learn and share in a group setting by enjoying the skills, talents, and support of the student and parent members participating in the co-op. Tutors and parents will teach students through hands-on activities in the classroom setting. There is no homework requirement in this program for children in K-2nd grades, with very minimal homework (15-45 mins./week) for children in grades 3rd -4/5th. The program is offered each Wednesday of the PIONEERS' schedule. Families may choose the AM Program (Music, Art, Science, Creative Writing (4th/5th), and/or the PM Program Unit Study Focus). Optional field trips and other activities may be planned for the fourth (off) Wednesday of the month. In addition to the tutors, parent assistants will be required each week to effectively facilitate the program for the greatest benefit of the children. Specific information relative to classes, tuition rates, lab fees, and work schedules will be furnished with registration forms. The following pages further explain the mission, method, and means utilized to accomplish the goals of PIONEERS.
